BIOL 134 - General Botany(IAI: L1 910L, BIO 910) Introduces the structure and physiology of plants. This course includes laboratory experience and lecture topics which survey the molecular basis of life, the form and function in the plant kingdom, the ecological roles of major plant groups, and their evolutionary relationships. Campus and greenhouse flora are studied extensively. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) and their potential impact on humans are discussed. The human impact on the plant biosphere and biodiversity will be emphasized. Prerequisite(s): C or better in high school biology. (PCS 1.1, 4 credit hours - 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab)
