AUTO 243 - Brake Systems Diagnosis And Repair (Fall Semester Only) Focuses on the various automobile brake designs. Shop experience including replacement of linings on both disc and drum brakes, turning of drums and rotors, rebuilding of calipers, replacement of wheel and master cylinders, proper brake bleeding procedures. Diagnosis, service, and repair of anti-lock brake systems (ABS) and traction control/vehicle stability systems will be performed. Precautions in the handling of brake dust will also be presented. Prerequisite(s): C or better in AUTO 143 or concurrent enrollment. (PCS 1.2, 4 credit hours - 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab)
