The Comprehensive Agreement Regarding the Expansion of Education Resources (CAREER)
Lewis and Clark participates in the Comprehensive Agreement Regarding Expansion of Educational Resources (CAREER), a statewide agreement among Illinois community colleges that expands access to select educational programs. Members of the CAREER consortium allow students to enroll in approved programs of study not offered in their home district and to pay in-district tuition and fees. Participation is limited to eligible programs rather than individual courses.
Students seeking to enroll in a CAREER-eligible program at L&C that is not available in their home district must obtain a letter of approval from their home community college. Upon receipt of this documentation, L&C will assess in-district tuition and fees.
Residents of the L&C District may also participate by requesting a letter of approval from the Office of the Vice President of Student Services (Reid Hall, Room 1200).

Dual Admission Agreements
L&C offers several dual admissions agreements that allow students to be admitted simultaneously to L&C and a partnering four-year college or university. These agreements are designed to provide a smooth, seamless transfer experience, giving students access to advising, financial aid services, and courses at both institutions. While enrolled primarily at L&C, dual admission students may take one course per semester at the partner institution.
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Dual Admission/Partnership Agreement
Students may apply for dual admission with SIUE by the end of their second semester of full-time enrollment at L&C. Participants receive advising and financial aid support from both L&C and SIUE. For more information, contact an advisor at 618-468-2222.
University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing Dual Admission Pathway
L&C’s Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program offers a direct dual admission pathway into the University of Illinois at Chicago’s fully online RN to BSN completion program. This pathway allows students to begin taking BSN-level courses while completing the ADN at L&C. For more information, contact an advisor at 618-468-2222.
Summary of Agreements with Four-Year Institutions
L&C maintains a broad range of transfer and articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities. These agreements help students move efficiently into specific bachelor’s degree programs, including technical and specialized fields.
Through established 2+2 articulation agreements, students who complete an A.A.S. degree in approved occupational programs-or an A.A. or A.S. degree with designated coursework-may transfer to partnering institutions, often with junior standing.
For details about specific institutional agreements, contact the Director of Student Affairs at 618-468-5200.
