ART 153 - Non-Western Art(IAI: F2 903N; satisfies Human Relations Requirement) Surveys the visual arts (painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and architecture) in selected non-western societies. Provides a stylistic and historical survey of visual arts traditions in the world beyond the West. Introduces students to the arts of diverse cultures from around the globe (including Africa, China, Japan, India, Oceania, and the native cultures of the Americas) and some of the social and cultural ideals, beliefs, principles, and influences that have shaped their arts. Prerequisite(s): None. (PCS 1.1, 3 credit hours - 3 hours lecture, 0 hours lab)
